Caretaking 

OBJECTIVE:  Seeking employment in security, maintenance

 and grounds keeping on an estate or ranch environment. I do short term 

Caretaking in a paid capacity with expenses & travel allowance if present 

commitments allow.

Having been raised in San Diego with the ocean, boats, fishing, exploring islands,

and experience of sailing with some very good people as well as diving with

very good teachers, I am indeed fortunate and grateful to all who have shared

their time with me.

 Present Position:

Self employed rancher and sheepherder. We are presently in the process of possible selling the ranch and I may be available late Septembe of 2020 please call in advance due to commitments in process.

 Presently I have been caretaking ranches in the Grass Valley, Penn Valley, CA area for limited amounts of  time. I would be able to put interested parties in touch with owners from previous commitments if needed.

Past Caretaking Positions:

Clement ranch-Doyle, California. 2004-2006 

• Residential maintenance and caretaker of 100 acre land and home.
• Animal care of 5 horses, 3 dogs, 18 sheep, 5 cats.
• Grounds-keeping and maintenance to include sheds, pump house, land
• Ranch equipment maintenance

"The McLaren Castle"  Tahoe City, California. 1980 – 1991 

• A 4.3 acre parcel with a 3200-3400 sq. ft. house, garage, and caretakers cabin
• Duties included: Policing area, preventing vandalism, maintaining house for occasional guests and owners.
• Snow blowing and shoveling access roads and paths
• Maintenance of shallow well systems, cutting winter wood supplies   repair of electrical and plumbing, some ancillary services. 

"The Torreson Estate" South Lake Tahoe, NV.,  1985 –1986 

• An 8.5 acre parcel with three houses, a caretakers cottage, six car garage, a large converted building for a 16' passenger van, stalls, tackroom, and corrals for two horses and an outbuilding.
• Outside duties included: Policing area, cleaning, keeping grounds maintained ,  thinning diseased and dead trees, maintenance of 500 gallon hot tub. Maintenance of 300 feet of beach,  and gazebo area.  Care and feeding of two quarter horses.
• Inside duties included: cleaning houses before and after guests, vacuuming, dusting, mopping, laundry, some meal preparation, Ancillary services for guests.  

Vista Hermosa Thoroughbred Farm.  A forty acre ranch in Rancho Santa Fe, CA. 1973 -1974. This was a ranch in transition.       

• Duties included:  Morning feeding and inspection of thirty to fifty  thoroughbred horses.  
  • Purchasing feed, assorted materials and maintenance materials.
  • Repair of any electrical or plumbing problems.  
  • Maintenance of approximately ten acres of grass paddocks, grounds   of main house, water, weed control, roads, fencing, etc.
• Repair and maintenance of farm equipment, Ford tractor, Jeep, manure spreader, plow, lawn mowers and a Bolens tractor.
• Bred Thoroughbred horses i.e. (Cabezone- owned by Chad Everett to Greek Money-Preakness winner).

"The Morgan House." A 2 ¾ acre parcel with a (6000sq.ft) home was built by Henry Morgan in the early 1900's. 1971 -1972

• Duties required weekly cleaning of a reservoir remodeled into a pool, cutting and watering 3/4 acres of lawn, plumbing and electrical repairs and general policing of grounds to prevent vandalism or theft.
